"The Dept. of Mental Health and Mental Retardation Finance Division is responsible for coordinating and providing centralized accounting and financial services for the department." (1987-1988 Annual Report). In addition the department is authorized to enter into contracts with any other state or federal agency or with any private person, organization, or group...if it finds such action to be in the public interest (Ala. Code, 22-50-11.4). Consequently, many of the financial records of the department are not duplicated in the Department of Finance. This series consists of contracts prepared for vendors to provide a specific service for a specific fee. These contracts are for personal or professional services provided by private entities or individuals. Such services include daycare, foster home care, laboratory work, cosmetology work, etc. These files include copies of contracts, invoice records, contract cover sheets, fee schedules, memoranda, correspondence, and contract vouchers. Information available in the records includes name of service provider, cost of service, dates of payments, and length of contract.
